Let's try that again
Now I feel bad about ending the year on a downer, so here’s an assuredly incomplete list of the good things that happened this year — in order of when I thought of them:
1. Dan and I shacked up

I love this book. I’ve read it four, maybe five times, and I just started it again because a friend who tried reading it and didn’t like it a while ago is giving it another shot, and she likes it so far, and her enthusiasm has tempted me to pick up my copy...

Never mind.
Turns out, Scout doesn’t really need dental surgery.
Turns out, Scout has liver cancer.
Inoperable.
While it’s some consolation to know that this couldn’t have been deduced from his most recent bloodwork, it’s a pretty big shock to go from treating his kidney disease and hoping for a year or two more with him to gearing up to say goodbye within a matter of weeks.

OMG I MISSED YOU GUYS SO MUCH
I mean, I love my Twitter, and I guess Facebook is OK for some stuff, but — and I am not being ironic or anything — I sorta come to Tumblr for a little more, like, substance? I love that I get the cat and dog pictures and kooky videos and occasional boob shot as well as actual news and commentary on that news and glimpses into people’s random daily happenings and Angry Bird angst...
