Current Status
I need a word for the state of being that occurs when one needs more coffee to sufficiently wake up and go about one’s business of the day but has already caught up on all one’s Internet reading and now flounders about in a half-awake aimless stupefaction.

When I spotted the S. S. Enterprise Van (there’s an additional Enterprise Decal on the side, not pictured in the photo), I was on my way to see The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which I highly recommend.

Thoughts on Lost - The Last Recruit →
In which I say a little bit more than “Meh?”
There’s no need to pretend that you have everything under control today.

Well, that’s a relief.

mijatovic asked: Are you going to the Brooklyn Blogger Meetup? I was planning to attend tonight.
Dear Spiders that Dwell in my Apartment
It seems as though we must revisit the terms of our agreement:
In exchange for me not killing you, you are to not bite me in my sleep. You will also not mate in my place of residence, and will keep out of my food.
But most importantly, you are not to sneak up on me while I am IN THE SHOWER, via the ceiling, and then threaten to DROP ON MY HEAD. This, again, is in exchange for me NOT KILLING...
Never thought I’d be grateful to still be paying off my student loans. Thanks, deductible interest!
(It’s a wee bit early yet, but I think I’m going to be OK.)

My hands are shaking and I don’t really know why, other than the sinking feeling that even though I put aside a third of last year’s fabulously ample refund, I am still going to...

FYI
I dislike applying for jobs that direct me to a characterless web page that asks me to upload my resume and fill out an contact information form, and then previews my resume but the formatting is all wrong so I have to go into the document and redo all of it, and then the site doesn’t ask me for any sort of cover letter or brief “Hi, here’s why I would be good at this job”...

First Impressions of Target Field →
stuffaboutminneapolis:
It’s the first day at a new ballpark, and there are so many new things to see that your mind is bouncing a thousand different directions. At least mine is. So as I sit in the press box here at Target Field, I’ll share a few stylistic observations, rapid-fire:

Fit to Flatter | stash, knit, repeat →
If you knit sweaters or are just planning on learning how to knit sweaters, you’ll want to read this potentially life-changing tutorial. (It’s just the intro now but there will be more installments to come.)
I think it would be helpful in a general “you should wear this” way as well.

So sure, the Internet makes it easy, being mean. Instead of shaking your...

Full article here.
I could not agree more, particularly with the analogy between one-note, mean-spirited blogs and junk food. Neither is particularly satisfying or healthy, in the long term.
