So tired.
I’m going to bed, and I don’t care how early it is. At this point even if the kittens do wake me up in the middle of the night, I’ll still be able to get a decent amount of sleep in.
Nighty night, Internet.

OK, I just signed up with Path.
I guess you can find me by searching my full name? Which is, for the next few months anyway, Michelle Wiener.
Edit to include Path link.

The kittens have found a new hiding place
I have no idea where they are right now.
Came home last night, didn’t play it cool at all. I pretty much just said “OMG KITTENS” over and over again until they fled from me in confused terror.
The kitten most happy to see me? Gypsy. I think she’s been feeling left out these past few weeks because all the attention has been focused on her litter (the younger/cuter models...
Obligatory kiss the ground post
I’m in a monster of a taxi line. I’m so excited to see the kittens that I’ll probably scare them off when I finally get home.
Maybe I should play it cool instead. Be all, “Oh hey, kittens. ‘Sup? You look good.”
Yeah. I’ll do that.

On the plane!
And they are still checking in all the standby people! We’re not leaving for another half hour at least! That’s my guess, anyway! But I am excited nevertheless because
KITTENS I AM COMING FOR YOU!
KITTENS.
Wishful thinking, crew at Gate B16
But if the arriving plane is supposed to be at the gate at 1:49, there’s no way in hell that my flight is going to leave at 2:14. I think you’re confusing “departs” with “will start boarding at.” No big, it could be worse, but you’re not fooling anyone.
Even though the arriving plane is here as promised. Well done there.
Of the four flights leaving O’Hare for New York, mine is the only one claiming to be on time. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please.

AND SKYRIM.
Consoling myself with more knitting and A Night at the Opera.
(What, I can’t have layers?)
Six more rows until this rassafrassin' sleeve is...
Six hundred and six more individual stitches.
With a mini cable every three stitches.
Most. Annoying. Sleeve pattern. Ever.
Note to self
A week is too long to be away from home. With or without kittens, but definitely without Dan.

Fantastic Day
Shedd Aquarium, Thanksgiving leftovers, Lord of the Rings Risk (I think I’m doing OK but my hold on Rohan is tenuous at best), and now the whole family is watching Princess Bride and I am under the best blanket in the world.

Thanksgiving Tradition
Hearing my cousin’s “That time I almost got attacked by monkeys in Thailand” story. I make him tell it every year. It’s my favorite story ever.

Total luxury
Coming downstairs early in the morning to find the coffee already made. I love staying here.
I don’t know why, but the switch from Eastern to Central time messes me completely up. It’s only 10:40 and I am in bed with my book, Villette, which by the way is like a brand new book because I remember NOTHING of what I’ve read so far. Such is the curse of selective reading in grad school. Anyway. I will probably be asleep within five pages. Nighty night, Internet.
I love my family so much, you guys

“Oh, I’ve wasted my life.”
At some point in the not too distant future, I am cross stitching the hell out of this line.
Thing I Just Said
“Wow, you guys know way more about Popeye than I do.”
But my cousin introduced me to The Hour last night (thanks, BBC America On Demand!), and holy crap how was I not aware of this show before?

If I’m being honest, Skyrim withdrawal.

Simple pleasures
Explaining the “floor pie” reference — a family joke made every Thanksgiving, when one of my cousins asks what kind of pie we all want and my other cousin answers “floor pie” and then I chime in “Ooh, floor pie!” — oh, like you’re not all nerds.
I don’t know why it makes me happy, but it does.
Things I Need to Do Before My 6:00 AM Flight
(Or, Making Lists at Work.)
1. Buy more cat food and Cat Attract litter because at least one kitten and possibly all of them have a devil-may-care attitude about where they pee and poop. I’d hoped this was a natural kink in the development process and eventually they’d get the hang of using the litter box, but I’m going to be gone for a week and I don’t want Dan to have to...

Jayne vs. Willow. From a few days ago.
Jayne is the slightly darker, slightly browner, overall bigger kitten — not that it’s always easy to tell.

No sleep
OK, I love these kittens to death, but I also can’t wait until they’re, like, ten years old. Yes, Willow curled up with me as I was going to sleep but soon she was with the others, scooting around the bedroom and scratching at everything. All. Bloody. Night.
Even now they’re bouncing around all over the place. It’s making Gypsy crazy, too. Ten minutes ago she charged in...
