In an official statement, Susan G. Komen For The Cure has amended it’s previous decision to change their criteria for making grants, one that would have halted its funding to Planned Parenthood. The group will “amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political” and thus continue to fund PP.

1. Too late. Damage has been done.
2. 3rd & 4th sentence: “We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.” — LIE.
3. Handel has to go. The board members who voted for this have to go.
4. Again I say, damage has been done. I doubt anyone will trust the Komen Foundation again. Too much about their inner workings have been exposed over the last couple days. This reversal is necessary backpedaling for them to maintain any sort of decent public image, and if they are indeed going to continue to fund PP’s cancer screenings then GOOD, but does anyone believe that they’re not going to find other ways to screw over low-income/uninsured women? That they’re not going to continue to treat women as political tools they can use to pad their own incomes? And the next time they do something lowdown and dirty there won’t be a press release.
