I feel your pain. My last house had a slight leak in the gutter and I had to repair the wall multiple times each winter. Hopefully your house isn’t plaster, because that shit is a PITA to fix.
The ceiling is most definitely plaster. I don’t know what would be worse; owning this place and having to do all the work ourselves or renting, as we do, and relying on whoever our landlord gets to fix it. But it’s somewhat consoling to know that our need for repeated repairs has to do with the plaster and not so much with the workmen doing a shoddy job.
Living on the top floor has its advantages—no herd of elephants above us (apologies to our new downstairs neighbors for the ruckus Jayne and Gypsy must make) and an extra room where the stairwell would be—but the whole apartment building tilts forward ever so slightly and all the rain accumulates where our bedroom is and, well, we get leaks every year. Every year.
