A PSA to my knitting friends: you might wanna follow Dave Holmes’ other Tumblr (the uninitiated/Luddites may prefer to add it to their RSS aggregate readers) as he reads through Sweater Quest. (How did I miss that Rachael wrote a blurb for it? Right on.)
I have not read the book, but this should be entertaining. Kinda like that guy who wrote LOST S6 recaps without having ever seen a single previous episode. No, really — I’ve been enjoying My Year of Everything a great deal and I’m looking forward to what he has to say about the book.
In case Dave Holmes actually sees this, “knitting dangerously” usually involves (at least for me) complicated lace on very small needles, and a bottle of gin. Seriously, I was blitzed out of my mind the whole time I knit this.
Incidentally, I’m moving on with the books. “Yes Man” was breezy and British and probably mostly apocryphal, but still worth a read. Don’t watch the movie. I didn’t, and I hated it.
Next, I’m going to try something I’ve never done before, i.e. read a book on a mobile device. Adrienne Martini’s “Sweater Quest: My Year Of Knitting Dangerously” is my iPad test book. I wonder whether I’ll miss the physical heft of a book, the satisfying swoosh of an actual turned page. I also wonder what “knitting dangerously” entails. Barbed yarn? Hot needles? High fructose corn syrup? I’ll keep you posted.
And I’m moving my office outside for the summer. I’m more productive out here for some reason. Also, with the Perfect Push-up, the stationary swim leash and a jumprope, I’ve got a pretty nice gym going out here. What I’m saying is I’m a survivalist.
