Press the button twice when unlocked and you can quick-open recent apps, get iPod controls, and lock the screen orientation so it doesn’t switch to wide view when you tilt it (which is how I leave mine all the time.)

OK, I knew the screen shot one (I looked it up after noticing other people blogging their screen shots and was all HOW THEY DO THAT?) and I figured out the recent apps one but I did NOT know that you could lock the screen orientation as well. That’s the one thing that drives me crazy about listening to music on my phone while walking, the way the display switches at the slightest tilt.

I love that my dinky 3GS can still manage most of the iOS5 updates. Still want a new phone, though.
